Learning Objective 2:
In this section I am explaining the ways I used sources as evidence in the paper, and I included at least one specific example that demonstrates my ability to select, integrate, and explain quotations.
Framing Statement:
I tend to use many sources and quotations to back up what I am attempting to state. For my second paper that I wrote for this class, I used many quotes from Jonah Lehrer. I took what he said and eventually reworded it and formed it in a way that it resulted in being what I said. For example, I mentioned that he talked about applying both science and art in order to gain new insight and solve the worlds biggest problems. I then continued to apply evidence with his quote stating just that in other words. After I mentioned what he said in the quote, I then applied my perspective on the subject and ended up agreeing with his statement and added a few Ideas of my own. Depending on what I am writing about I will tend to either find a quote based on the information I wrote about, or I will base my information off a quote I picked out. If I am writing about a subject that has a lot to do with what I say and is supposed to be surrounded by my ideas I will tend to use the first way. If I am attempting to write an essay that is mostly research based and it uses a lot of authors words instead of my own, I will tend to lean towards the second way I explained. I believe that it is a great way to keep your mind actively thinking of ideas since you are receiving idea after idea that is listed in the text.
