Learning Objective 1:

In this section I am explaining how I have made specific changes that demonstrate my ability to engage in both global and local revision.

Framing Statement:

Global revisions are revisions that focus more on big picture problems in your essay such as organization of your paragraphs and wording, creating a clear thesis, making sure all your main points are supporters of your thesis, etc. Local revision differ in that it revises smaller mistakes in your essay such as grammar, punctuation, spelling, and awkward wording. For example, my final essay mostly needed global revision. I ended up changing the order of most of my paragraphs because they ended up sounding awkward and i felt that they didn’t flow smoothly. When I changed the order of them it fixed the problem of sounding like I had just written down the first words that I thought of. In other words, it didn’t sound as rambled and unorganized as it did in my free draft. Another example of me using global revision in my final essay is when I would repeat myself or my argument in the same sentence. This created a sentence that sounded awkward and just really didn’t make much sense. To fix this problem, I rearranged my wording and made it so I could explain my argument clearly with the sentence sounding smooth and flowing nicely to the conclusion sentence. As for my local revisions I mainly just fixed my grammar and typos within my essay. With all of these revisions including global and local they create a final essay that you are happy with and will receive a good grade on.
